During Noosa Regional Gallery's Floating Land in 2007, myself, Rowley Drysdale, Susan Coburn, Michael Ciavarella and a group of students from Sunshine Coast TAFE, designed, built and performed these amazing paper kilns on the beautiful Lake Cootharaba at Boreen Point, Noosa.
Firings at the Lake
A dream so it seemed, creating kilns of paper, wood and clay,
At twilight, smoke bellowing formed by wind
Capturing imaginations of hundreds
Like elemental characters playing
Suspending disbelief.
Some revealing their inner sanctums of glowing pots
Others standing tall like ancient fire textured relics
Memories of something distant and archetypal
Casting luminous reflections on still water
Against a starry sky
