After a trip to Darwin, Kakadu and Arnhemland I was inspired by the wrapped figures. The artists there use natural fibres and wood, and of course their figures are part of their dreaming.
I have just spun and dyed some gorgeous lustrous silk and wanted to use it so I could look at it! Then my new extruder created long lengths of terracotta clay that seems to form themselves into figures with very little effort from me.
Then, as I wrapped the silk around the figures, these gorgeous patterns started to form, magically.
